I understand that there are matters in the world that need attention. But what is up with the constant photo ops with the French President? When did America become best buds with the French? We've never really cared for the French before. So why now? I think Nicolas Sarkozy has a little crush on Obama.
It really makes me wonder why the President feels the need to make constant world trips. We have an employment situation here in the US. There are not enough jobs, and unemployment is running rampant. Doesn't Obama know that his presidency will be judged strictly on the unemployment issue. If people don't have jobs, he will not get reelected in 2012. I understand that this is a large problem and it does take time, and quite honestly some of it has to work itself out. But come on.
If I were the President, I would be doing whatever I could to get this country moving again. Most people don't like to be micro-managed, but that is exactly what I would do. We expect the President to lead, and speak in broad terms so that the leadership gives a broad message to the American people. I feel, however, that it is time to get dirty. The President needs to be on the phone every day with every governor, Fortune 500 CEO, and large city mayor, university president, military unit, and county government asking them the simple question..."How many jobs did you create today?" This goes for Democrats and Republicans. No mercy to any of them. Then post that information daily for everybody to see. When the President gets resistance from somebody he needs to rake them over the coals. This is a strict numbers game. Create jobs now. Jobs begat jobs. Everybody who is on those rolls will start to get the picture that they need to start producing jobs numbers because the information will be there for everybody to see. People will want to outdo their competitors.
If I were a Republican with higher aspirations, I would get down and dirty and create jobs. There is no way that unemployment is not going to be an issue in 2010. So if you create jobs, you bring that to the table. Nobody wants to see an action plan to job creation. They want to see if you have the muscle to get people working. Plain and simple.
So again I ask...Where is the President? Answer...off in Europe hobknobbing with the Pope. Don't even get me started on that.
